Three keys to a Dallas Cowboys victory on Thanksgiving

The Dallas Cowboys have a short amount of time to prepare for the 8-3 Buffalo Bills. Do they have a chance against this young and talented team?

The Dallas Cowboys are going into this game with injuries at key positions, questions about the coaching staff and the Philadelphia Eagles a game and a half behind them in the standings.

Not much room for error on their part going forward, especially against a Bills team on paper that isn’t as talented. But to win this game they will need to make sure that the can do these three things.

#1 – Stop the Run

The first thing on this Dallas Cowboys defense mind must be to stop the running game of the Bills who are averaging an impressive 4.7 yards per carry as a team. Led by the wily veteran Frank Gore (541 yards) and the impressive rookie Devin Singletary (490 yards) they are a formidable duo. They also can’t forget about quarterback Josh Allen who has rushed for 387 yards as well.

If they are able to stop their running game and force the Bills to win the game on the arm of Allen then the Cowboys stand an excellent chance of winning this game. Though it will be tough without defensive tackle Antwaun Woods and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch on the field. Linebackers Sean Lee and Jaylon Smith along with defensive tackle Christian Covington are going to need to have big games.

#2 – Look for Amari Cooper early

Over the past two games, wide receiver Amari Cooper has been a non-factor on the Dallas Cowboys offense. During that span, he has caught three passes for 38 yards on 10 targets. you can say that he has been dealing with a knee injury and drawing the best corners but that isn’t an excuse when you step on the field.

Quarterback Dak Prescott needs to get him involved in the offense early to him into a groove. That will also open up more running lanes for running back Ezekiel Elliott to exploit against this tough Bills defense.

#3 –  No coaching miscues

The Cowboys coaching staff has been able to coach games without any miscues but when to do have them they are costly to the team. Head Coach Jason Garrett can’t allow this to happen in this game or anymore, he has to realize how this is really holding his team back.

That means no more kicking field goals from 50 plus yards out on your opening drive, and deciding to punt on fourth and one when the game is on the line. It’s a big ask, but if they are going to go anywhere this season Garrett has to get out of the team’s way.
