#3 – History repeats itself

Since the Wildcard game in 2015, Dallas is 3-0 when playing the Lions. That game was before the duo of quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott was on the team. However, veterans Jason Witten and DeMarcus Lawrence were on that team.

Dallas won that game 24-20 in Dallas. Witten had 62 yards and Lawrence got 1.0 sack. One year later, Witten would continue his success.

In a 2016 regular-season matchup, Witten caught a touchdown in a 42-21 beatdown of the Lions. This game Dak and Zeke were in the game, with Dak throwing three touchdowns while Zeke ran for two.

The 2018 regular-season matchup would mark the most recent one. Zeke ran for 154 yards, while defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence had eight tackles and 3.0 sacks. The score was 26-24 Dallas.

The old saying goes “history repeats itself” so then that points to the Cowboys winning this Sunday. It’s great that key players that are on the team now stepped up in previous games against the Lions.

Game prediction

I expect Dallas to leave Detroit with a win. If they don’t, then I will be disappointed. There is no way that the Lions, led by backups right now, should be able to beat a healthy Cowboys team.

Vander Esch should be healthier, and even if he isn’t then Sean Lee can step up. DeMarcus Lawrence is looking better after the bye week. Quarterback Dak Prescott is still playing quite well.

Everything is pointing toward Dallas continuing to lead the NFC East. Unless it is a colossal collapse like Week 6 against the New York Jets, Dallas will win.
