On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants 37-18. It was a lopsided victory that saw many Cowboys shine. Who are the top three?

Winning a game always feels good. Winning a game against a division rival is even better. Winning a dominant game against a division rival with stars stepping up is great.

The Dallas Cowboys did just that on Monday. Many players stepped up, including some that had a slower start to the season than expected. In an encouraging win against the New York Giants, who were the top three stars of the week?

#3 – DeMarcus Lawrence/Michael Bennett, DE

I previously stated that defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence has had a slow start to the season. I expected him to make up for it in the second half of the season, starting with the first game back from the bye week. D-Law has done that against the Giants.

While Lawrence enjoyed a nice game, he may have overshadowed the performance of newly acquired defensive end Michael Bennett. Both players had very similar stat sheets, and both players played a crucial role in the Cowboys fifth win of the season.

Lawrence had 1.0 sack, four tackles, three of them for a loss, and three quarterback hits. Bennett’s stats were pretty much the same, except he has one less tackle and one more quarterback hit. Both players were all over the field on Monday.

Because of Lawrence’s statistical slow start, he was the biggest story. I think the biggest story that comes out of this is how putting Bennett in the middle helped the entire defensive line. DeMarcus Lawrence looked as if he was everywhere, and I enjoyed that sight.

This performance is just the start for what I expect to be a great second half of the season for Lawrence. It is also just the start of Bennett’s great play as a Cowboy.
