Dallas Cowboys win in their quite typical Cowboy way

In every possible way, the Dallas Cowboys post yet another divisional win, giving fans early anxiety and late exhilaration.

Coming off their bye week, Dallas Cowboys‘ fans waited two weeks to see their team take the field. With about three minutes to go in the second quarter, everyone had to wonder if the Cowboys thought they were on another bye.

Thankfully, Dallas turned a late second-quarter 12-3 deficit into a 37-18 laugher. The Cowboys took control of the game in the fourth quarter, with their talent finally wearing down a Giants team severely lacking in that aspect.

Unfortunately, this type of game could not have been more “Cowboy-esque.” In every aspect, this was vintage Dallas Cowboys.

For starters, the game was on a national stage as Dallas made their only Monday Night Football appearance of 2019. Dallas came out the gate slow on the road. They also played down to their competition for a large part of the night.

This is nothing new as Dallas has struggled mightily to get their high-profile offense running. The Cowboys had just three points at half against the Saints. They only had six against the Jets and struggled to get to 13 at half in this one.

It was also quite typical because the Cowboys talent found a way to shine through. Quarterback Dak Prescott posted yet another game with a quarterback rating above 100. Running back Ezekiel Elliott had yet another 100+ yard rushing effort. Receiver Amari Cooper had a big play touchdown and the defense stepped up forcing three turnovers and sacking Giants quarterback Daniel Jones five times.

At the end of the day, a win is a win, however these wins count in November, not January. Beating the Giants keeps Dallas undefeated in the NFC East which is the best thing they have going for them. The Monday night victory keeps Dallas in their first-place standing within the division as well.

Struggling to beat the Giants. Losing to the Jets. Scoring just ten points on the road in New Orleans and falling behind 31-3 to Green Bay is going to make any possible playoff invitation a short one.

The Cowboys schedule is about to get a whole lot more difficult to navigate. Games against Minnesota and Buffalo, both owners of six wins represent the Cowboys home games in November. There is also a road appearance at 8-1 New England.

A performance like the one against the Giants will likely mean all three of those games will end in defeat. The Cowboys need to clean up a lot of their issues for this upcoming tough stretch.

If they have designs on making the playoffs or staying in them for more than one game, the month of November will tell you all you need to know. For this night, however, this team will gladly take the result they earned instead of the alternative.
