The Dallas Cowboys faced off against the Giants looking to stay ahead of the Eagles. It started rough but a black cat helped turn things around.

The Dallas Cowboys face a divisional foe on Monday night, the New York Giants. Fresh off their bye week, the Cowboys needed to get a win over the Giants to maintain their lead in the NFC East.

But the Cowboys didn’t start the game the way they wanted to with quarterback Dak Prescott throwing an interception on the first play of the game to New York defensive back Antoine Bethea. That would lead to three points for the Giants after a Cowboys goal-line stand. The Cowboys would answer with a field goal of their own thanks to running back Ezekiel Elliott and tight end Jason Witten making plays for the Cowboys.

The Giants would continue to keep the pressure on the Cowboys forcing another turnover with a fumble by wide receiver Randall Cobb. That would lead to a Giants touchdown pass from quarterback Daniel Jones to wideout Cody Latimer, but New York would miss the extra point to make it a 9-3 game. The Giants would add another extra point to make it a 12-3 game in the second quarter.

The Cowboys would come roaring back with a little help from a black cat that gave them time to rest and gather themselves. After that break, the Cowboys offense and defense would settle down and take control. Going on to score 10 unanswered points to take the lead off a Brett Maher field goal to end the half up 13-12.

From then on the Cowboys were in control of the football game with the strong rushing performance of Elliott who ran for 139 yards on 23 carries. Not to be outdone Prescott would light up the scoreboard going 22 of 35 for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Once again the Cowboys offense came alive in the second half and made the correct adjustments to beat the Giants to the tune of 37-18.

The defense also had a strong showing, holding the Giants offense to 271 total yards while creating three turnovers. The defense also held Saquon Barkley to 95 total yards, most that came from a 67-yard catch and run. This defense was ready for the task and showed it Monday night.
