If the Dallas Cowboys are going to bring in a safety before the trade deadline, here are three names we believe make the most sense for America’s Team.

The Dallas Cowboys made a trade last week to acquire three-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion defensive lineman Michael Bennett from the New England Patriots. The move only cost the Cowboys a conditional seventh-round selection in 2021 with the potential to become a sixth-rounder.

The trade for Bennett helps replace the production lost due to a hip injury suffered by fellow versatile defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford, who was placed on Injured Reserve recently. But the front office in Dallas may not be done.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones told the Star-Telegram that safety could be a position the team addresses before Tuesday’s 3:00 p.m. (CT) trade deadline. And it’s one Dallas has desperately needed an upgrade at for years.

Currently, the Cowboys have Jeff Heath and Xavier Woods as starters at the safety position. Veteran Darian Thompson and sixth-round rookie Donovan Wilson are the primary backups.

Both Heath and Woods are trusted by this coaching staff. And although neither is predicated to making big plays in the secondary, they aren’t prone to making huge mistakes either.

But if the Cowboys are serious about upgrading the safety position over the next few hours, here are three realistic names we believe make the most sense.
