Position of Need: Defensive End/Tackle

The defensive end position started the regular season as one of the Cowboys’ deepest units. But following the release of former first-rounder Taco Charlton and injuries, this group could use a new face. And the absence of starting defensive tackle Antwaun Woods at points this season revealed the defense’s interior flaws.

With veteran Tyrone Crawford now out for the season due to a hip injury, the Cowboys are without a versatile piece that could play both outside at defensive end or inside at defensive tackle. It stands to reason Dallas could be on the lookout for a defender who could give the team position flex across the line.

This unit could certainly use a spark as well. Defensive end Robert Quinn seemed to provide that spark after serving a two-game suspension to start the season. Quinn’s posted 5.0 sacks in four games. Despite his presence, the Dallas defense continues to regress, giving up big plays to a winless Jets team last Sunday.

The Cowboys added defensive lineman Justin Hamilton to the roster this week. But the 26-year old has only started in one NFL regular-season game since being undrafted out of Louisiana-Lafayette back in 2015.
