Brett Maher, K

I get anxious just writing his name.

Yes, Brett Maher did not have giant expectations coming into this year, but what he has shown so far in 2019 has been terrible. In the past two games, Maher has missed three total field goals and sits at 7-11 for the year.

Maher’s misses so far this season have killed the Cowboys especially the last two weeks. Leaving points on the board is never a good thing, but leaving points on the board in the fourth quarter leads to losses, and right now the Cowboys know what that feels like.

In my opinion, the only reason I feel like Maher is still on the team is that he has one, if not the best leg in the league. Yes, he can make the 60+ yard bomb, but is that worth missing the 40-yard kick?

As I have been saying, Maher might need some competition to possibly “scare him straight” or even better maybe someone else can make kicks on a consistent basis.
