Interception one

The first interception occurred during Week Two against the Washington Redskins in Landover, Maryland. Prescott eluded the pressure from the defensive pass rush, before making the throw while also moving forward and away from the pocket towards the line of scrimmage.

The ball hit Randall Cobb in the hands, before then bouncing off and into the hands of the Redskins’ defender who was in the right spot to make a play on the ball. While at least half of people will say that Dak could have made a better pass, every pass from every quarterback isn’t ever perfect.

The key here is that professional NFL wide receivers are supposed to be able to make that play. The old adage forever has been that if the ball hits you in the hands, you should make the catch.

Interception two

His second interception of the season was against the Miami Dolphins during Week Three. This was a second-quarter heave against his body and across the field, that was in the direction of both Randall Cobb and Amari Cooper, who had either both ran deep drag routes or peeled back across the field towards their quarterback as a function of a scramble drill.

Either way, this was an inexcusable interception from the quarterback and he should have known better than to make the throw. Not only should he know not to throw back across his body, although today’s quarterback makes that rule look irrelevant at times (yes, Prescott has gotten away with that too), but he threw it into heavy coverage. No excuses, Prescott has to be better than that.
