#4. Anthony Brown, CB

A former sixth-round selection out of the now-legendary 2016 NFL Draft class for the Cowboys, Brown has been a steal and solid contributor in Dallas’ secondary. In his first three seasons with the Cowboys, the 25-year old corner started in a total of 29 games and has been a versatile defender playing both the slot and on the outside when needed.

Brown is currently in his fourth season in Dallas and in the final year of his rookie contract. He is scheduled to become a free agent in 2020, so it’s important that he post career numbers this year in order to maximize his value. Yet, after the way he played against the Packers, Brown might have to settle for a more modest deal.

Brown was called for three different penalties in the Week Five contest. One was a defensive holding call in the third quarter that led to a touchdown right afterward.

On the Packers’ following drive, a defensive pass interference penalty called on Brown cost Dallas 39-yards and Green Bay splashed into the endzone a mere three plays later. Late in the fourth quarter, Brown was called for a running Into the kicker penalty that was eventually declined.

The Cowboys defense as a whole struggled against the Packers. Anthony Brown’s penalties were just one of the many issues Dallas struggled with during the loss. Still, for a player looking to earn a new contract next year, Brown’s off to a rough start.
