The Dallas Cowboys came into this game with high hopes. Well, those hopes here dashed once after two turnovers lead to a loss to the Saints.

The Dallas Cowboys offense came into the game rolling averaging 32 points a game. A couple of turnovers, offensive penalties, and bad calls against the Cowboys didn’t help either. In the end, though the Cowboys have no one to blame but themselves.

The Dallas Cowboys defense led by linebacker Leighton Vander Esch and defensive end Robert Quinn did their job holding the Saints to four field goals. Sadly they didn’t really get any help from the Cowboys offense in this game. For all the fans wondering about the Cowboys defense maybe this will ease their concerns.

Now on the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys once again couldn’t get going Quarterback Dak Prescott took everything given to him in the passing game going 22 of 33 for 223 yards and an interception that came during his Hail Mary attempt that ended the game. The running game led by Ezekiel Elliott couldn’t get going thanks to the surprisingly poor play from the Cowboys interior offensive line.

Elliott ended his night with just 35 yards on 18 carries with a fumble, but did score the Cowboys lone touchdown. Both center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin had trouble blocking saints defensive tackles Marcus Brown and Daniel Onyemata who seemed to be in the Cowboys backfield throughout the game.

That wasn’t their only problem either, the Dallas Cowboys receivers just weren’t able to create separation against the Saints defenders. When they did make a play it one ended in a fumble by tight end Jason Witten while others were brought back due to an offensive holding call, or for an offensive pass interference call of which receiver Amari Cooper received two.

This game really showed how much the Cowboys are missing receiver Michael Gallup and now they may be without left tackle Tyron Smith who left the game after suffering a leg injury in the last series of the game. In all, it was a very poorly played game by the Cowboys offense, and they need to bounce back quickly with the Packers led by Aaron Rodgers coming to town.
