The Dallas Cowboys came into this game knowing they would get the best from the Dolphins. They were still able to weather the storm and pick up the win.

The Dallas Cowboys came into this game knowing it could be a trap game for them. While the Miami Dolphins came out and wanted to prove that they weren’t going to be pushed around anymore. In the end, the Dolphins put up a good fight in the first half but the Cowboys offense took over in the second half and were able to put them away fairly easy in the end.

The Cowboys again leaned on quarterback Dak Prescott to lead the team, and Dak did just that ending his afternoon going 19 of 32 for 246 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Prescott also ran for another score.

Receiver Amari Cooper was Prescott’s favorite target today with 88 yards and two touchdowns due to fellow receiver Michael Gallup being out with a knee injury. Not to be left out running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard who both carved up a Dolphins defense and ending with over 100 rushing yards each.

On the opposite side of the ball, the Cowboys defense still wasn’t able to get pressure on quarterback Josh Rosen and giving up big runs to the Dolphins. All that seemed to change with the Cowboys defense came up with a fumble recovery to end the first half. After that turnover, the defense came alive and shut down this offense in the second half and harassed Rosen sacking him three times.

While the score doesn’t reflect it the game was close in the beginning and the Dolphins did have a chance to pick up the upset. But with the Cowboys actually making halftime adjustments on both sides of the ball they were able to pull away from the Dolphins and pick up the win 31-6. The Dallas defense though showed how much they missed defensive tackle Antwaun Woods and safety Xavier Woods.

Next week, the Dallas Cowboys face the New Orleans Saints. And while the Saints are without star quarterback Drew Brees, they still possess a team that has the ability to pick up the win. The Cowboys’ defense needs to tighten up and fast.
