Dak Prescott had a perfect passer rating in Week 1, followed by a 269-yard, three touchdown performance in Washington. How good is he playing?

The Dallas Cowboys were always known for having a great rushing attack. What was always in question was the passing game.

Even after the acquisition of wide receiver Amari Cooper and the success that followed, there was the question if quarterback Dak Prescott could continue his success into this season. So far he’s looking good, but how good is he really playing?

So far in the NFL

Sure it’s only two weeks into the NFL season, but as of right now Dak is playing great. You would consider a top quarterback to be amongst the best when it comes to stats right? Well, let’s look where Dak ranks in the NFL so far.

He ranks third in passing yards, tied for first in touchdowns and first in completion percentage. That in itself is very impressive to put up.

Just to add onto that, Prescott also ranks first in yards per attempt and second in passer rating. Sure I get it, a lot of quarterbacks got injured this week. Well if these stats don’t prove anything to you, how about doing things no one has done?

Notable Stats

In Week 1 against the New York Giants, Prescott was the first Cowboy in 50 years to have a perfect passer rating. Along with that, he was the third quarterback to have a perfect rating while throwing more than 30 passes and 400 yards.

Prescott had the most passing yards in a season opener with 405 yards, beating out quarterback Troy Aikman’s 362 yards back in 1999. In addition to that, Dak tied his career-high in passing touchdowns with four.

Week 1 was a historic game for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Things couldn’t have gone any better offensively. Now, of course, those that aren’t fans of the Cowboys thought it was just one game against a bad Giants team, and there is no way he would keep up.

Week 2 against the Washington Redskins saw yet another great game by Dak and the Cowboys. With seven touchdowns in the first two games, he ties the most touchdowns in the first two games by a Cowboys quarterback.

He also becomes the first Cowboy to record 250 yards and three touchdowns in three straight games. Saying Prescott is playing like the best quarterback in the NFC is without a doubt right now. You can even make the argument he is playing like the best quarterback in the NFL.

Stephen A. Smith

ESPN First Take host Stephen A. Smith is known as the guy that hates the Cowboys. Because of this, any credit that he gives Dallas is a huge thing for me. Enjoy Stephen A. talking about how good Dak has played the past two weeks.

If a huge anti-Cowboys host talks like this about Dak, that has to mean a lot. At this point, anyone questioning him is going to have to wait to find something to criticize.

Some may criticize some off-target throws such as the one that leads to his only interception which was deflected off receiver Randall Cobb’s hands, but not every single throw is going to be spot-on perfect. For the most part, Dak Prescott is playing amongst the best, if not the best in the league.
