10 words to digest before Dallas Cowboys play Washington Redskins
8. 380
Last week against the Eagles defense, quarterback Case Keenum passed for 380 yards. He tossed three touchdowns, had zero interceptions and a final quarterback rating of 117.6. With Byron Jones still in healing mode at the cornerback spot, I’m interested to see what scheme Dallas deploys to prevent the aerial attack.
9. Peterson
With Adrian Peterson healthy, but in street clothes last week, Washington was still able to jump to a 17-0 against Philadelphia. With Derrius Guice out, the Redskins figure to plug “AP” back in. The back is probably just a little furious, with a ton to prove to his employers.
I’m excited to see how the great back, and his physical style of play, match up with the great linebacker duo in Big D. It’s going to be a fun game with Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith roaming the field to stop a healthy AP.
10. Zeke
Despite landing a mega-contract deal, Ezekiel Elliott rushed only 13 times for 53 yards. Tony Pollard had the same number of totes but only mustered up 24 rushing yards. Sure, the Cowboys were careful with Elliott and his body, considering the back was in Mexico all preseason.
But the Dallas Cowboys paid a pretty penny for Zeke’s services. The Cowboys were pretty balanced in their 62 total plays last Sunday, but the air attack took over the game.
With Big D visiting Washington turf, I expect the team to deploy a ground attack, which may prevent Case Keenum and AP from seeing the field.
