With final cuts looming for the Dallas Cowboys, here are seven fringe players who are likely destined for the waiver wire or release this weekend.

Three down, one to go. There’s only one game left in the preseason and immediately afterward the Dallas Cowboys will have to make some harsh decisions concerning their roster. By this Saturday, the Cowboys will waive or release a whopping 37 players in order to cut down their bloated 90-man roster to a league-required 53.

That means Thursday’s preseason matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be the final chance for some players to prove they belong on America’s Team. But for others, they are destined to hit the waiver wire or be released regardless of their performance.

Here are seven fringe players currently on the Cowboys’ roster that we believe will be waived or outright cut this weekend.

Mike White, QB

This has been a disastrous preseason for the 2018 fifth-rounder. The distance between himself and fellow backup quarterback Cooper Rush has only lengthened over the past three games with White posting forgettable performances against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angles Rams.

On Saturday night, White redeemed himself somewhat against the Houston Texans completing 6 of 9 passes (66.7 percent) for 56 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, I believe it’s a case of too little too late as I do not believe the Cowboys will keep three quarterbacks on their final roster this year.

In no danger of being claimed off the waiver wire, expect the Cowboys to attempt to place White on their practice squad. Although there is the possibility another young quarterback prospect hits the waiver wire from another team that Dallas may want to invest in more.
