Reggie Davis, WR

Reggie Davis made some noise this offseason as one of a trio of lightning-fast wide receivers to watch this summer. But Davis, Jon’Vea Johnson, Jalen Guyton have all failed to impress in the preseason.

In fact, the third-year wideout barely made a blip on the radar in the Cowboys’ first preseason game against the Niners, posting no receptions on two targets. Davis did post numbers on special teams though, recording one kick return for 21 yards as well as a punt return for 17 yards.

But any momentum gain by his special teams play was erased in the Cowboys’ preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Rams over the weekend. Davis muffed a punt late in the first quarter resulting in a turnover that eventually led to a Rams’ touchdown.

Davis would record a modest two catches off three targets for 13 yards in Hawaii. And he’d post five punt returns for a total of four yards. Still, misplaying a punt that results in a turnover is usually the death knell for those trying to avoid The Turk.
