Jon’Vea Johnson, WR

After emerging from the Cowboys’ talented wide receiver corps this offseason, Jon’Vea Johnson has taken giant steps back in his two preseason appearances. In his debut against the San Francisco 49ers, the undrafted rookie wideout out of Toledo caught just three of his team-high eight targets and had two obvious drops.

With an opportunity to redeem himself, Johnson only proved he is not yet ready for the bright lights of the NFL recording just one reception for nine yards off five targets. He had two more frustrating drops plus he had another catch stripped out of his arms by a defender.

Johnson was also the target of a badly underthrown ball by quarterback Mike White that resulted in an interception. He did have a 15-yard reception negated by a holding penalty by center/guard Joe Looney.

Still, Jon’Vea Johnson is proving to be far too inconsistent to be a real consideration for the Cowboys final-53 man roster. His poor play has likely earned him a place on the practice squad this year.
