The Dallas Cowboys have begun training camp in Oxnard with three major players looking for contract extensions. Could those deals be done soon?

The Dallas Cowboys opened training camp last Friday with a press conference. The fact that they held a press conference is nothing special. But, the information that came out of the presser was very interesting and possibly a sign of good things to come.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones wasn’t willing to give any information on potential contract extensions other than that all the team’s players are currently under contract. When executive vice president Stephen Jones was asked the same question, he followed his father’s lead. But, he did drop one piece of information that should make fans happy.

Whether on purpose or by accident, Stephen Jones told reporters that the Cowboys have been in touch with the agents for quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, and wide receiver Amari Cooper. And that they tend to let get their major contract negotiations completed during training camp. Which would lead many to assume that the Cowboys could have all three contract extensions agreed upon fairly soon.

It would be in the best interest of the team to get all of these deals done quickly. As of now, the Cowboys are only without Elliott at training camp. And they need to get Zeke back as soon as possible as first-year offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is currently installing his new scheme.

Sadly, we won’t get any updates on the status of these contract extensions until they are actually agreed upon. But according to the information provided at the Dallas Cowboys’ recent press conference, we know they are actively working towards new deals for all three key players. Hopefully, they can get them done quickly and get Ezekiel Elliott back with the team where he belongs.
