As the Dallas Cowboys start 2019 Training Camp, let us look at the key pieces that must go right in order to have another successful year in 2019.

The Dallas Cowboys 2019 campaign is almost underway as the team has traveled to Oxnard, California. The Cowboys are looking to repeat as NFC East champions, a feat that has not been done in 15 years.

As we look towards training camp, let us look at what must go right in order to have a successful 2019 season.

Ezekiel Elliott shows up

As you might have heard, the Cowboys left for California without star running back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott has decided to hold out of training camp due to contract negotiations.

In my opinion, it is mandatory that the Cowboys and Zeke figure out the contract negotiations as soon as possible. Not only does Elliott need time to get back into “football shape” but the lingering distraction this hold out could cause could possibly affect the team as a whole.

The offense builds chemistry

The Cowboys offense last season held the team hostage for a large part of the season in 2018. It is a must that the offense, starting with quarterback Dak Prescott creates strong chemistry with the offensive unit as a whole.

With the return of veterans Travis Fredrick and Jason Witten, the Cowboys offense needs to find their rhythm again after those two key pieces have not been on the field since 2017.

This training camp should be heavily surrounded by new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore, who was promoted from quarterbacks coach early in the offseason, must create a bond with Dak in order to establish trust, which will lead to success for the Cowboys offense.

The Bash Bros take the next step

Star linebacker duo Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch are coming off a year no one expected. The two stars took the league by storm and helped lead the Cowboys defense the top of the NFL.

It is imperative that these two linebackers build on the success they had last season starting in Oxnard. If these two come out of the gates slow, that will end up meaning the Cowboys defense will dip in production.

Jaylon and Leighton helped lead the Cowboys to many victories last season, and if they are able to take the next step in 2019 the Cowboys are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. The process of these two and the rest of the team taking the next step starts July 27th. See you in Oxnard. Go, Cowboys!
