Is time running out for the Dallas Cowboys to add a safety?
The Dallas Cowboys are still some help at safety and there isn’t a lot of time before the season beings. So do they need to sign or trade for safety help?
It’s widely known that the Dallas Cowboys have been searching for safety help for some time now. And with only 12 days before the start of training camp, they don’t have a lot of time left to get someone up to speed. So show they sign a safety now or trade for one later during or immediately after the preseason.
There aren’t a lot of safeties left on the market for the Cowboys to choose from, but of what’s left your best bets would be safeties Tre Boston or Eric Berry. Berry visited the Dallas Cowboys during the free agency period but left without a contract. His injury history could be the main reason he hasn’t been signed right now.
While Berry has made a few visits, it’s been pretty quiet for Boston. You haven’t seen much interest for him this offseason other than rumors on where he could land. If I were the Cowboys and I was looking to sign a safety, Boston is the player I would go for right now.
He’s three years younger than Berry and doesn’t have the serious injuries that Berry has had over the last two seasons.
Now if the Dallas Cowboys decide to trade for a veteran safety, the only team at the moment looking to move a safety would be the Raiders. Karl Joseph has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff there and they haven’t been shy about putting his name out there as trade bait. But what could the Raiders be looking for in return?
They are in need of help at guard, linebacker, and pass rusher. Now the Cowboys aren’t going to be giving up any of their linebackers or pass rushers, but they might be able to move a guard and a late round pick for Joseph. Xavier Su’a-Filo and a fifth-round pick might just be enough the pry Joseph away from the Raiders.
Although If I had to choose right now I would sign Tre Boston. I don’t want them giving up any players or future draft picks.
