The Dallas Cowboys in OTA’s have seen a lot of positive things from tight end, Jason Witten. After one year off, what can Big Witt provide for the offense?

As we all know Jason Witten is back with the Dallas Cowboys after one season in the Monday Night Football booth. As Witten’s return can only help the Cowboys, what can we expect production wise in 2019?

In 2017, Jason Witten played 98.4 percent of the offensive snaps that season. Expect that number in 2019 to be around 65 percent. For the first time since his rookie season, the now 37-year-old has to compete for playing time due to the late season success of tight end Blake Jarwin.

What No. 82 has done better than anyone possibly ever is finding the holes in the defense on a consistent basis. Expect that to stay the same. Finding the open field that often is due to football IQ, and that is something that will never leave Jason Witten no matter what age.

The Hall of Fame tight end has not only made his career so great due to his pass-catching abilities but his ability to block as well. Blake Jarwin struggled in that aspect of the game last year, and the return of Witten should help seal the edges for running back Ezekiel Elliott in 2019.

No. 82’s ability to put his hand in the dirt and do the dirty work that is blocking is the most underrated part of Witten’s Hall of Fame career.

It is great to see Witten back with the Star on his helmet. His return will only help the Cowboys offense but do not expect to see the same player we saw in the final years before his first retirement.

Jason Witten will make some big-time catches in 2019 to move the chains or even put points on the board. But what is most valuable is his presence in the locker room and his experience and knowledge of the game for the younger tight ends.
