The Dallas Cowboys have a ridiculous logjam of wide receivers on their current roster. Who will make the final cut and who will be left on the streets?

Every NFL team has a bloated 90-man roster at this time of year. And they’ll carry it all the way through training camp. But for the Dallas Cowboys, their wide receiver depth chart is unusually massive right now.

It’s a great problem to have. But it also means there could be some talented wide receivers hitting the streets during final cuts. Check out the Cowboys’ current roster at the position.

Current Depth Chart

Allen Hurns
Michael Gallup
Reggie Davis
Amari Cooper
Randall Cobb
Noah Brown
Tavon Austin
Lance Lenoir
Devin Smith
Cedrick Wilson
Jon’Vea Johnson
Jalen Guyton

That’s a whopping 12 wide receivers currently on the Cowboys’ roster. And that’s not including rookie running back Tony Pollard who has the versatility to play at receiver as well.

Once the preseason is complete, expect this number to be cut in half. Injuries and poor play will make some of these choices for Dallas. As for the rest, some tough decisions will have to be made.

Who are the wide receivers that are locks to make the final roster? Cooper, Gallup and Cobb. I think that’s your starting three. The Cowboys love Hurns despite his hefty price tag ($6.25 million in 2019). You could probably be safe penciling him in as long as he’s healthy. As for the rest, this summer will determine their fate.

I could see the Cowboys keeping up to seven wide receivers on the final-53 due to their talent. That means Dallas would likely only carry two quarterbacks and possibly just three tight ends on their final roster. You have to believe the team will go heavy at offensive line this year considering the recent injury history of both starting center Travis Frederick and left tackle Tyron Smith. Even All-Pro guard Zack Martin was forced to miss two games last season due to injury for the first time in his five-year career.
