Many consider the Dallas Cowboys a team with championship potential, minus one glaring problem. Could the addition on Jon Kitna be the key to fixing it?

During the Dallas Cowboys‘ past three seasons with Dak Prescott as their quarterback, they’ve always been a team that has either been in the playoffs or just missing it. The 2017 season when All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott was suspended for six games being the lone exception. But they’ve had one glaring problem during this time span and that’s Prescott’s accuracy.

While Prescott has led the Cowboys to 32 wins in three seasons, which only trails New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady, many still focus on Dak’s accuracy problems. Well, Dallas may have found a solution to the problem in former Cowboys’ quarterback Jon Kitna. Kitna, who was hired this offseason to become the team’s newest quarterbacks coach, will be able to fall back on his 15 years of experience in the NFL to help Prescott.

Coaching is nothing new for Kitna, who has been coaching at the high school level for the past seven years. Therefore, the 46-year old should be able to better relate to his 25-year old quarterback. During his time in the NFL, Kitna was also been able to help quarterbacks like Carson Palmer and Tony Romo along in their careers. His knowledge of the position will be a big benefit for Prescott and his growth.

Kitna’s first order of business is to get Prescott to start working on his footwork. During his first season, Dak was planting that front foot in the ground and driving the ball down the field completing 67.8 percent of his passes. Over that last two seasons, we’ve seen Prescott leaving his feet and trying to throw the football while in the air thus causing his completion percentage to drop to 62.9 percent in 2017 and back up to 67.7 last season.

If Jon Kitna can get Dak Prescott to fix this Dallas Cowboys’ offense, America’s Team can become a lot more dangerous throwing the ball. And that might finally get the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl … and possibly leaving with a ring.
