The Dallas Cowboys will face their usual foes this preseason, with two exhibitions taking place in California before coming back home.

The NFL released their preseason schedule of 64 games for 2019 on Tuesday via NFL.com. And for the Dallas Cowboys, it’s a set of exhibitions against some very familiar foes.

With the Cowboys once again holding training camp in Oxnard, California, America’s Team will play their first two preseason contests in the Sunshine State. Then they’ll finish up training camp in Frisco, Texas, playing their final two exhibitions at home. Let’s breakdown each preseason game.

Preseason Week 1 – August 8th-12th

Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

This will be an interesting debut for many players on both teams. For Dallas, this should be the debut for newcomers like wide receiver Randall Cobb and defensive end Robert Quinn. While the 49ers own the number two overall selection in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft. This should be that player’s debut as well.

Preseason Week 2 – August 17th, 9:00 p.m. CDT

Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams in Honolulu, Hawaii

This should be an interesting rematch of last season’s Division Round matchup where the Rams defeated the Cowboys 30-22, ending their playoff run. Typically, the starters will play through the first quarter, possibly the entire first half. Although the Rams are considered the home team, the game will actually take place in Honolulu. It will be the first NFL preseason game to be held in Hawaii since 1976.

Preseason Week 3 – August 22th-25th

Houston Texans at Dallas Cowboys

This might be the most interesting matchup of the preseason. The third preseason game is often called the dress rehearsal as teams will usually play their starters through the first half if not more. This is the one preseason contest in which you’ll see a glimpse of how the team might perform when the regular season kicks off. The Texans defeated the Cowboys in a Week Five contest in Houston last season, 19-16, in overtime.

Preseason Week 4 – August 29th-30th

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys

Tampa Bay will be the third consecutive preseason opponent in 2019 that the Cowboys actually faced last season as well. Dallas defeated the Buccaneers on the road 27-20 in a Week 16 matchup. But don’t expect to see any stars in this contest, as the fourth preseason game is often referred to as the Roster-Bubble Bowl. This game typically only features fringe players in danger of not making the cut onto the final 53-man roster.
