Dallas Cowboys draft: Applying 2019 needs to 2018 options

Facing a late draft start, the Dallas Cowboys will need to mine for gold. Applying 2019 needs, these were the treasures available in 2018.

The Dallas Cowboys have openly shared their top needs in the upcoming 2019 draft. Defensive end, defensive tackle, safety, and tight end are high on the radar.

Without selecting until pick No. 58, the front office will need to do their homework to unearth lesser heralded treasures. With four picks between 58-136, there will be options that could immediately help this team.

To get a concrete picture of the immediate contributions that can be located, a worthy exercise is done by applying 2019 needs to the available options in 2018.

Below is an illustration of the players Dallas could’ve added in last year’s draft using 2019 parameters. The six best options at high need positions is listed (in order of selection) for the team’s top four 2019 picks, along with rookie statistics.
