Dallas Cowboys: 15 best free agent acquisitions of all-time
Before signing a massive seven-year, $49.6 million contract to join the Cowboys as a free agent in 2007, offensive guard Leonard Davis was considered a draft bust.
As the second overall selection in the 2001 NFL Draft, Davis failed to live up to those lofty draft expectations as a member of the Arizona Cardinals for his first six years in the NFL.
But Davis turned his career around in Dallas, earning himself three-straight Pro Bowl nominations during his first three seasons with the team. His first year with the Cowboys in 2007 was a particularly great performance by the talented offensive lineman, as his play earned his only All-Pro Second-Team nomination for his entire 12-year NFL career.
During Davis’ four-year stint in Dallas, the Cowboys would post season-ending records of 13-3, 9-7, 11-5 and 6-10, respectively. Born in Wortham, Texas and having attended the University of Texas, the native Texan played an important part in securing the Cowboys’ offensive line during the team’s success for much of the previous decade.
