Ranking the Dallas Cowboys top 5 current players
By Nathan Jones
1. Zack Martin
Right guard, Zack Martin, is the best guard in the league. He has made an All-Pro team every year since he entered the league in 2014. He also has made the Pro Bowl every year as well.
The Cowboys’ offensive line has seen some dramatic changes in recent years, but Martin’s consistency is maybe the only thing holding the unit together. He goes against types of humans that normal people would never dare to seek a high five from, much less battle it out in the trenches.
Out of the 56.0 sacks Prescott received, Martin was only responsible for three of them, per the Washington Post. Martin is a reliable pass blocker and can plant his feet in the ground and pancake defensive lineman in the running game.
Martin, despite suffering from nasty knee injuries, played 15 games in the regular season. He is going to turn 29 this year and is already being penciled into the Hall of Fame by many.
Barring a traumatic injury, Martin should one day have his bust in Canton, Ohio. Martin will always be overlooked, it is not his fault. It’s just the nature of playing the position.
But that does not change the fact that he is the very best player on the entire Cowboys’ roster and will very likely be in the ring of honor in a few decades. The only thing lacking from Martin’s resume is a Super Bowl ring. Maybe things will change in 2019?
