Dallas Cowboys‘ slot receiver Cole Beasley has been a staple in their offense for several years. Now that he is a free agent, I believe his time has come to an end.

Slot receiver Cole Beasley has done great things for the Dallas Cowboys since he arrived as an undrafted free agent out of SMU in 2012. Three years ago, Beasley really made a name for himself when he caught 75 passes for 833 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now that Beasley has become a free agent, I believe his time in Dallas has come to an end. On Twitter, the veteran wideout has hinted at possibly wanting as much as $20 million guaranteed as part of his next contract. Sorry Cole, you are a really solid player. But I don’t believe your production is worth that kind of money.

In 2017, Beasley caught a measly 36 passes for 314 yards. Another thing that has turned me off as of late is his actions via Twitter. On top of the contract talks, Beasley also tweeted …

Sorry Cole, but in the football world, they do. Almost every team in the league as a slot receiver that is quick and can create mismatches many times per game. Also, undrafted 5-foot-8 guys do grow on trees.

With that being said, if Beasley can sign a reasonable contract he can still be an important part of the Cowboys’ offense. His quickness is his biggest weapon that he uses very well.

Beasley saw a jump in production from 2017. In the 2018 season, Beasley hauled in 65 receptions for 672 yards an added three touchdowns.

If the soon-to-be 30-year old will not settle for less, it is time for the Dallas Cowboys to part ways with Cole Beasley. If he’s willing to re-sign for less, I am all for it. But no matter what happens, please stick to football.
