The Dallas Cowboys were two wins away from making a Super Bowl appearance in 2018. If these three players step up, the sky is the limit in 2019.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the thick of their offseason. With the Scouting Combine kicking off this week, free agency beginning next month and the NFL draft in April, the Cowboys are primed to build off their successful season in 2018.

Yet, the Cowboys’ biggest boost is likely to come from within. If these three young players can blossom into budding superstars next season, Dallas will be well on their way to playoff success.

Taco Charlton, DE

When the Cowboys drafted Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton with the 28th overall selection in the 2017 NFL draft, they knew they were getting a developmental project. Dallas actually had a second round grade on the 6-foot-6, 275-pound edge rusher.

Even with that in mind, Charlton is swiftly approaching bust status as he heads into his third season. Taco flashed potential heading into his second season, but a shoulder injury hurt his progress. If the 24-year old can turn a corner in 2019, the Cowboys would possess one of the best tandems of pass rushers in the NFL.

Xavier Woods, S

The former sixth rounder was a 14-game starter in 2018. And although he wasn’t much of a playermaker in the secondary, racking up two interceptions, Woods didn’t make many glaring mistakes either. And the 23-year old showed the ability to be a destructive tackler when given the opportunity. If Woods can take his game to another level in 2019, especially if it’s beside an All-Pro like Earl Thomas, it would solidify Dallas’ already elite defense.

Blake Jarwin, TE

Jarwin waited until Week 17’s matchup against divisional rivals, the New York Giants, to score the first touchdown of his NFL career. He also happen to also post his second and third touchdown receptions as well. It was a monster day for the undrafted tight end out of Oklahoma State in 2017. And Dallas is hoping it is a sign of things to come. Is Jarwin the Cowboys’ next Jason Witten? Only time will tell.
