Dallas Cowboys 2019 free agency primer: Tight End
By Tyrone Starr
In the fourth installment of my free agency primer series, we will finish off the skill positions by seeing how the Dallas Cowboys can improve at tight end.
Over the past two weeks, I have taken an in depth look at the Dallas Cowboys offense and how they might attack the free agent market. If you want to go back and look at my speculations on quarterback, running back and wide receiver, feel free to do so.
Today is the fourth installment of my free agency primer series which will finish off the skill positions. The focus of this article will be tight end and if the Dallas Cowboys choose to upgrade the position with a veteran.
Last year was a year of transition for Dallas at tight end. Long time, soon-to-be Hall of Famer Jason Witten retired leaving the Cowboys with lots of youth and inexperience. For most of the year, it showed.
Four tight ends combined for 68 receptions, 710 yards and four touchdowns. As a point of reference, five individual tight ends had more catches than the Cowboys group. Four totaled more yards and six had more touchdowns.
Clearly either the Cowboys need to be better at utilizing the talent they have at this position or a major upgrade is needed. Let’s start by taking a look at who is on the roster for 2019 and the notable free agents at this position.
