#2 – Josh Oliver, TE – San Jose State

The Cowboys have a couple of tight ends that are decent, but if you could put all of them together that one tight end would be amazing. But you can’t. Since you can’t, Josh Oliver would be the perfect fit.

Oliver is someone who Dallas can likely get in Day Three of the draft and someone who would fit this “gadget” tight end spot very well. Oliver caught for over 700 yards and four touchdowns on a very, very bad San Jose State team.

Oliver can split out wide very well plus he looks like a true wide receiver outside from a stance point of view and getting off the line. His biggest flaw is his route running for sure, but his upside is tremendous and would truly allow Dallas to spread teams out.

Despite his route running, Josh has natural, all-around athleticism and ability. And while nothing jumps out to you on paper, that’s a reason Dallas should target him so much in rounds 4-7. Oliver won’t be a top pick in this deep tight end class, but he is exactly what Dallas needs.
