Three reasons why the Dallas Cowboys 2018 season derailed

The 2018 season ended with the Dallas Cowboys failing on the goal of bringing home a sixth Lombardi trophy. Here were the three biggest reasons why.
On Sunday, I outlined the five best aspects of the 2018 Dallas Cowboys season. By most measures, this past year could be considered a success. The Dallas Cowboys finished the season with a 10-6 record, earning the NFC East division a playoff home game in which they won.
For this franchise, however, a winning record, a division title and just one playoff win will never be enough. Part of that reason is because the consistency in these achievements is lacking.
The Dallas Cowboys have six winning seasons and four division championships in the last ten years. They have just three playoff wins in that same time span. While the first part of that sentence is not so bad, the latter part is the problem.
The other part the moderate success is insufficient for this franchise is its history. Fair or not, the current version of the Dallas Cowboys, along with future versions will always have the ghosts of days gone by following them.
When your franchise is tied for the second most Super Bowl victories, tied for the second most Super Bowl appearances and third with the most playoff victories, that’s going to happen.
