The Dallas Cowboys come into this game with one goal, to win. The key to that victory comes down to the battle between Dak Prescott and Jared Goff.

The Dallas Cowboys know that their offense runs through running back Ezekiel Elliott, well the same goes for the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams offense runs through running back Todd Gurley and while everyone will believe stopping one of them is the key to a victory. I believe that the battle between the quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Jared Goff will be the key to victory.

If you talk to anyone that follows football you will hear that Rams quarterback Jared Goff is better than Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. If you look at the stats the yes, Goff looks better on paper than Prescott. Goff’s threw for 4,688 yards and 32 touchdowns while Prescott threw for 3,885 and 22 touchdowns.

But there is one area that Goff struggles and Prescott has outperformed him. Goff has thrown 12 interceptions to Prescott’s eight. Prescott also has a better completion percentage this season, completing 67.7% while Goff completed 64.9% of his passes.

The main reason for that is the fact that when under pressure Goff has struggled when under pressure with a passer rating of 59.8% which is 28th in the league. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, on the other hand, has a passer rating of 87.1% which ranks third in the league.

This means that the Dallas Cowboys have the upper hand in affecting the quarterback in the pocket. Their pass rush led by defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence has the ability to consistently bring pressure to make Goff uncomfortable all night.

Prescott will take his hits at times from Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald during the game but when the pressure comes at him he tends to find the open man or make the team pay with his legs.

So even though he truly frustrates me at times during Dallas Cowboy games, if I had to pick a quarterback in this game I would choose Prescott for the Cowboys over Goff.  He has the composure when under pressure and more experience in this type of game.
