Cowboys vs. Seahawks: Dallas posts first playoff win in five years

The Dallas Cowboys were able to pull out a postseason win despite a late surge by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys were able to score 14 points in the fourth quarter to get a 24-22 win in their matchup against the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night.

Despite the Cowboys having a 10-6 lead at halftime, the Seahawks took a 14-10 led into the final frame. Dallas posted rushing touchdowns from both quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott in the fourth in order to pull ahead and get their first playoff win in five years.

Prescott completed 22 of his 33 passing attempts, throwing for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed six times for 29 yards and a score.

Elliott ran the ball 26 times for 137 yards and a touchdown. Zeke also caught four passes for 32 yards. Wide receiver Amari Cooper led the Cowboys in receptions with seven catches for 106 yards on nine targets.

Rookie wideout Michael Gallup was targeted six times, but only came away with two receptions for 18 yards and a score. Slot receiver Cole Beasley had three catches for 28 yards.

Defensively, rookie linebacker Leighton Vander Esch led the team with 10 total tackles. Fellow linebacker Jaylon Smith recorded seven combined tackles. Defensive tackle Maliek Collins posted the Cowboys only sack.

The Dallas defense limited Seattle’s league-leading rushing offense to only 73 yards on the ground. During the regular season, the Seahawks averaged 160 rushing yards per game, the best average in the NFL. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson ended the day throwing for 233 yards and one score.

Next up for the Dallas Cowboys, another postseason game to be determined by the outcome of Sunday’s NFC matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. The playoff victory is the first for the Cowboys since January 4, 2015 when Dallas defeated the Detroit Lions, 24-20.
