Well, the Dallas Cowboys are officially in the playoffs. Now they need to try and fix some major problems before the playoffs begin.

It’s official ladies and gentlemen, your Dallas Cowboys have finally punched their ticket into the playoffs. Unfortunately, before we start talking about a sixth Super Bowl win they have some major issues to fix and not a lot of time to do it before the playoffs begin. Let’s go over what they are and if they have time to fix them before the wildcard round of the playoffs.

The first and maybe the easiest thing for the Dallas Cowboys to fix would be penalties. It seems like every time the Cowboys are gaining momentum we see yellow flags start to fly all over the field. Through 16 weeks the Cowboys have been penalized 98 times for a total of 840 yards according to NFLPenaties.com. The coaching staff needs to get this team focused so they stop making these mental mistakes.

Second on my list is the Cowboys red zone offense or lack thereof. The Dallas Cowboys currently rank 31st in the league on red zone scoring at 44.19% according to Teamrankings.com. If the Cowboys plan on surviving past the wildcard round they need to figure out ways to get the ball across the goal-line or they will be sent packing earlier then they expected.

The last and most difficult thing for the Dallas Cowboys to overcome will be the play of Dak Prescott when he is in the pocket. I say overcome because there isn’t enough time for this coaching staff to fix the problems Prescott is having in the pocket right now. Whether it’s him holding onto the football too long and taking sacks, his accuracy, or just not seeing wide open receivers.

I can assure you that Prescott will be tested by defenses in the playoffs and the Cowboys are going to have to hope that he solve these problems on his own. If he can somehow figure this out then good luck to any team facing the Cowboys. Then again he has yet to show he can over the last 16 weeks of the season.
