The Dallas Cowboys face off against the defending champion Eagles this Sunday in a pivotal divisional game. Here are my game day predictions for this contest.

This Sunday the (3-5) Dallas Cowboys venture into enemy territory as they face off against the (4-4) Philidelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. After last week’s devastating loss to the Tennessee Titans, the Cowboys face must-win games the rest of the season.

Dallas sits third in their division but still has a chance to get back in the hunt with a win this week and some help from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who face the Washington Redskins). Here are my predictions for this week’s Cowboys, Eagles game and a final score prediction as wel.

Prediction #1

The Dallas Cowboys will win in the trenches on defense making the Eagles one dimensional. The Eagles come into this game sporting to offensive tackles in Jason Peters and Lane Johnson who are both injured. Peters with a torn bicep and Johnson with a sprained MCL.

These injuries matter as the Eagles without Jay Ajayi don’t have a running back that can run between the tackles. The Eagles will resort to more outside runs and screens to get the ball in their hands.

Something the Cowboy defensive ends and linebackers are very good at stopping.

Prediction #2

Dak Prescott will run the ball a lot during this game. The injury to Connor Williams up front opens up a competition for either Xavier Su’a-Filo or Adam Redmond to start in his place at left guard. The Eagles will look to exploit that, in turn, the Dallas Cowboys will plan to move Prescott in the pocket and give him more option plays to slow down the Eagles pass rush.

A mobile Prescott is a dangerous thing especially given the fact that receivers Amari Cooper and Cole Beasley have the ability to get open fairly quickly.

Prediction #3

Ezekiel Elliott will rush for more than 100 yards and Dak Prescott will throw for more than 250 yards. The Eagles main focus will be stopping Elliott but the Cowboys will start off this game passing the ball to loosen up the defense and force safety Malcolm Jenkins to cheat over and help cover Amari Cooper.

This will give Elliott lanes to run through with fewer defenders in the box and give Prescott the ability to use his safety blanket in Cole Beasley to move the ball down the field.

All this depends on offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. He received the wrath of owner Jerry Jones after last weeks let down. This week he will give in to the peoples demands and change up his offensive play calling.

Prediction #4

This game is going to be sloppy in the beginning for both teams but the Dallas Cowboys will find a way to win off the legs of Elliott and Prescott.

Final Score: Cowboys 27- Eagles 20
