The Dallas Cowboys entered Week Seven with confidence off of a convincing win over the Jaguars. They left Washington with a loss and no offensive identity.

Once again the Dallas Cowboys lost a game that they shouldn’t have. Undermanned, the Washington Redskins rode 33-year old running back Adrian Peterson to a 20-17 win at FedExField. In my opinion, this loss though falls squarely on the shoulders of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

Let’s start with the QB1. Prescott was a turnover machine in this game. Fumbling twice during the contest, leading to 10 points for the Redskins. Under constant pressure, Prescott looked like a deer in headlights against Washington’s pass rush, seemingly not sure whether he should run or pass the ball.

If Cowboys are going to have success from this point on, Prescott needs to play better than he did against the Redskins. Dak must start making decisions faster in the pocket or he is never going to succeed in this league.

Now, on to possibly the worse offensive coordinator in the NFL. Linehan, once again, called a predictable game that lacked creativity. Running the ball on almost every first down play with no real success would make most play-callers change things up.

Not Linehan. He continued to call the same plays over and over again, hopelessly using running back Ezekiel Elliott on first downs. Linehan refused to run any type of play action or bootlegs to get Prescott out in space to make a play.

If this team is going to make any noise in the division, I believe the Cowboys should give the playcalling duties back to head coach Jason Garrett. Garrett was at least able to scheme players open, something Linehan obviously isn’t capable of doing.

The Cowboys season is on the brink of collapse. Owner Jerry Jones must shake things up to kick-start an offense that isn’t capable of putting together back-to-back performances. Moving on from Linehan would be step one. The other would be trading for Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper in order to give this offense the outside receiving threat it desperately needs.
