2. Washington’s Turnovers

When the Washington Redskins decided to acquire quarterback Alex Smith this offseason and move on from Kirk Cousins, one of the main reasons cited was Smith’s ability to not turn the football over like Cousins did.

So far, this has turned out exactly the way the Redskins had hoped it would. Smith has turned the ball over just two times through the teams first five games, and Washington is second best in the NFL with just five turnovers on the year.

On the flip side, the Washington defense has done an excellent job of taking away the football from opposing offenses, registering nine takeaways on the season in just five games.

When you look at these numbers one thing is for sure in this game, if the Cowboys want to come out of here with a win they must protect the football.

Since 2016 when Alex Smith has not thrown an interception in a game his team has a 17-6 record. On Dallas’s side, since 2016 when Dak Prescott does not throw an interception in a game the team is a mind blowing 22-3.

So on Sunday this game very well may come down to whichever quarterback does not turn the ball over will lead his team to a win. Overall the Redskins defense has done a very good job of taking the ball away as the Dallas defense has not, but look out Sunday if the Cowboys can get some pressure in the face of Alex Smith and force him to make some throws he is not comfortable making.
