#6 – The Cowboys offensive line is improving

The loss of Travis Frederick was massive for this Cowboys offensive line. Specifically for rookie left guard Connor Williams, who would have surely benefited from having an All-Pro guiding him from the center position.

Instead, veteran backup Joe Looney has had to step in for Frederick, who is current on Injured Reserve as he continues to battle the autoimmune disease Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

Looney has done a great job in place of Frederick, but he is no Pro Bowler. In fact, perennial Pro Bowler Tyron Smith at left tackle doesn’t appear to be himself either as he continues to battle nagging injuries. That leaves the entire left side of the Cowboys offensive line lacking.

All-Pro right guard Zack Martin appears to be his steady self. But starting right tackle La’el Collins has struggled under new offensive line coach Paul Alexander. As a result, Collins who appear to be nearing Pro Bowl-level himself at the end of last season has started to regress.

But as this group continues to build chemistry, the better they are playing together. Against the Jaguars, the offensive line appeared to have their best outing of the season.

Prescott seemed to have plenty of time in the pocket, opting to run when he felt the slightest amount of pressure. And the O-line’s blocking was strong enough to allow running back Ezekiel Elliott to record yet another 100+ rushing yard game.
