The Dallas Cowboys are fighting to find their identity after losing two of their first three games. Here are three players I’m sold on, and three I’m not.

When the Dallas Cowboys are winning, everything seems right with the world. When they are losing, everything is crashing down around us. That’s the rollercoaster life of a true blue Cowboys fan.

There are certainly a lot of unanswered questions surrounding this current version of America’s Team. But for me, there are three players who I am suddenly sold on. And three that I’m not.

I’m Sold On: Tavon Austin, Wide Receiver

Certainly, the St. Louis Rams thought they were getting more than a gadget player when they selected West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin eighth overall in the 2013 NFL Draft. Yet, after five underwhelming seasons, the Rams were willing to trade the former first rounder to the Cowboys for a sixth-round pick this offseason.

And through his first three games in Dallas, Austin has been one of the lone bright spots on an anemic offense. The 28-year old has scored on both of quarterback Dak Prescott‘s passing touchdowns, including on a 64-yard first quarter bomb that helped the Cowboys defeat the New York Giants in Week Two.

Although Austin has had very limited opportunities, 47 total offensive snaps in three games, he’s looked impressive. His current stat line reads five receptions for 81 yards and two scores plus three rushing attempts for an average of 11.3 yards per carry.

Still a very explosive player, I believe getting Tavon Austin more involved in the offense is key to turning the Dallas Cowboys’ season around.
