The Dallas Cowboys aren’t losers, but they aren’t winners at 1-1 either. The Cowboys made strides against the G-MEN. Watch out Seattle! The Boys are coming.

Nine teams do not have a win, but the 2018 Dallas Cowboys aren’t one of them. The Cowboys avoided the 0-2 narrative, recalibrating their identity at home against a dreadful New York Giants team.

But a win is a win in this league. The 1-1 Dallas team swarmed the Giants, earning the win with six sacks. Next, America’s Team heads to Seattle to face the Seahawks. Does Dallas even stand a chance?

You bet. Here are five reasons why the Dallas Cowboys will beat up the birds at their own house. Enjoy the list.

1. Reboot

Ok, you got me: I picked the New York Giants to take over the Cowboys, handing the ‘Boys a 0-2 record. I was wrong.

The Dallas Cowboys answered the challenge. It wasn’t a perfect game offensively, but the architecture of this team is fueled up by the defense. Perhaps this was the blueprint all along: Phase one, re-establish the run and phase two, build an unforgiving defense.

Let’s face it: Eli Manning couldn’t quarterback last Sunday night. This isn’t a knock on his abilities. Regardless of age (he’s 37), I don’t think anyone can make reads or throws if that kind of scheme is coming at you.

Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli might have called his best game yet. And the timing is oh so right. The Cowboys are flying to Seattle to face one of the best quarterbacks in Russell Wilson. Let’s see who finds fireworks in this chess match.

2. Kris

Defensive backs coach Kris Richard is coming home. Richard served the Seahawks from 2010 to 2014, a span of three years where he built one of the best defenses, ever. The “Legion of Boom” might not live in Seattle anymore, but Richard is certainly bringing that model to Big D.

The former defensive coordinator has to be fired up to show what Seattle is missing. I can’t wait. You know, the amount of coverage Richard gets you might be inclined to believe this guy is a head coach or something.

He deserves the attention, no doubt. The Cowboys defense is revamped, rebooted. See ya in Seattle!

3. Dak

The Cowboys quarterback doesn’t have to perfect. Sure, he missed a few throws during game two (you mad Rico Gathers?). But hey, he ran seven times for 45 yards and completed 16 of his 25 passes under the bright Sunday night lights.

Dak Prescott doesn’t have to do everything. As a fourth rounder, the Cowboys aren’t expecting him to either. He has Ezekiel Elliott and the front line, plus with this defense, who knows what will happen down the road.

If he continues with this template, he’ll be trouble for the Seahawks. Prediction: Cowboys win 16-13 in a chess match game.

4. Everyone

NBC announcer Chris Collinsworth made a point to announce that the Cowboys defense is good. Removed is the “underrated” title. Thank you. The defense has officially landed and a credited business.

Collinsworth also made a point of how good the Cowboys are without studs like Randy Gregory or David Irving. Xavier Woods is also out at the safety spot. So, translation: The defense is only warming up. Cowboys don’t need Earl Thomas to apply.

5. Lee

He’s hurt again. Well, I was kind of upset with the first round pick going to number 55. With Sean Lee a little banged up, Leighton Vander Esch saw vital playing time. Sure, the game was pretty much wrapped up by then, but the rookie (and the Cowboys) saw what life is like with him in the game during meaningful snaps.

The rookie finished with seven tackles. No, he didn’t steal the light from Jaylon Smith — that man deserves his own article space. But for now, the Cowboys are looking smart by going defense with the first pick.
