Dallas Cowboys: Here’s the Carolina Panthers’ biggest weakness
4. How has D.J. Moore looked in the preseason and training camp? Are comparisons to Steve Smith accurate?
BS: First-round pick D.J. Moore has been impressive throughout training camp and his limited opportunities during preseason play. Moore really displayed his athleticism in preseason game one against Buffalo but his four catches for 75 yards would be his only receptions over the course of four exhibition games.
As a rookie, Moore is part of a very athletic and fast receiving corps but won’t be relied on to necessarily carry the group. Fourth-year wide receiver Devin Funchess and veteran addition, Torrey Smith will likely receive a majority of the looks, especially Sunday, but there is no denying Moore is special.
Comparisons to Panthers great Steve Smith are premature but expectations are high for the first receiver taken off the draft board back in April.
5. Your prediction for the upcoming game and score.
BS: The Cowboys never really showed what their offense is capable of during preseason play but there is no denying the capabilities of quarterback Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield. If the Panthers can contain these two playmakers and keep from giving up too many penalty yards (always an issue early in the season) then they should be able to score enough points to win.
Offensive coordinator Norv Turner hasn’t fully opened the playbook yet but there should be some evidence of a new play caller at the helm as the Panthers move the football up and down a field adorned with a new midfield logo for the first time in history.
Home field plays an advantage, in addition to everyone wanting to give David Tepper his first NFL victory as sole owner of a franchise. Carolina Panthers – 31, Dallas Cowboys – 20.
