The Dallas Cowboys still have many questions to answer heading into a pivotal week for their roster. Let’s dive into today’s headlines!

Tuesday marks the Dallas Cowboys final practice session of training camp. They’ll head to Houston to face the Texans on Thursday in their last preseason matchup. And the Cowboys must cut down their roster from 90 players to only 53 by this Saturday.

It will certainly be a busy week for America’s Team. In the meantime, today’s headlines include a surprising linebacker making a late surge for a roster spot, concerns at the backup quarterback position and much more. Let’s dive in!

Scout’s Eye: Silver Linings From Sunday Night – DallasCowboys.com

Football analyst Bryan Broaddus points out the fact linebacker Justin March-Lillard played well against the Arizona Cardinals in the team’s third preseason game. Should Cowboys’ backup QB options be a concern? – Star-Telegram

Backup quarterback Cooper Rush had the worst performance of his young career against the Cardinals in primetime Sunday night. Rookie Mike White performed better against worst talent. Neither have inspired much confidence this offseason. Yet, the Cowboys seem to be committed to remaining youthful at the position. But if a quality backup quarterback becomes available post-final cuts, Dallas could certainly change their minds.

Cowboys to make IR decision on Frederick next week – NFL.com

As Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick continues to battle Guillain-Barré syndrome, his status on the team will be decided next week. Dallas could opt to keep Frederick on their active roster if they believe he could return to play prior to Week 8. If not, placing Frederick on Injured Reserve with a designation to return after Week 8 makes the most sense.

Colin Cowherd thinks Dak Prescott is the ‘great stabilizer’ for the Dallas Cowboys – Fox Sports

Sports commentator Colin Cowherd believes the biggest stabilizing force on the Cowboys roster is Dak Prescott. But it’s Ezekiel Elliott that will be the driving force as Dallas is still a run-first team. Yet, there is little doubt the onus of leadership on this team is squarely on Prescott’s young shoulders following the retirement of Jason Witten back in May.

Dez Bryant says he’ll play, but maybe “a lil bit later in the year”

For Cowboys fans who still believe in Dez Bryant, the fact he has yet to find a new home is bittersweet. Clearly, Bryant is still a talented athlete who could play a vital role on a NFL team if utilized in the right way. But now the 29-year old is preparing to sit out the start of the season in order to find the right situation. I’m not sure anyone thought Dez would still be a free agent at this point of the year.
