With only two more preseason games left for the Dallas Cowboys, here are seven roster bubble battles to watch closely before final cuts on September 1st.

The Dallas Cowboys are set to play their final two preseason games in the next six days. And in a week, they’ll be forced to cut down their bloated 90-man roster to only 53 players.

Within that span, the Cowboys will have to make some harsh decisions about their fringe players. Here’s a list of seven roster bubble battles we’ll be watching very closely in the coming days.

Running Back

Bo Scarbrough vs. Darius Jackson

The recent hip injury suffered by the rookie Scarbrough has made this battle closer than many thought it would be. But Jackson played well in the Cowboys’ second preseason game and certainly lifted his status. With two preseason matchups to go, a breakout performance could tilt the scales in this race for the third running back spot on the depth chart.

Wide Receiver

Lance Lenior vs. Deonte Thompson vs. Noah Brown

In a fair world, Lenior would be the hands-down choice to make the final 53 at receiver. But Thompson’s speed and previous history with new receiver’s coach Sanjay Lal gives him an advantage. And the Cowboys covet Brown’s upside and ability as a run-blocker.

With the latter two still struggling to return from injuries, Lenior has played exceptionally well. Another stellar performance by him in the preseason may force the Cowboys’ hand.
