The Dallas Cowboys starters shined as they faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals in their preseason home opener at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night.

The Dallas Cowboys resumed their preseason in AT&T Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals in their home opener. The Cowboys first and second string offense and defense continued to perform well, despite losing the contest 21-13. It was their second loss of the preseason.

The Cowboys offense, which was led once again by third-year quarterback Dak Prescott, started off slowly but quickly found their rhythm. Prescott finished his night going 10 of 15 for 86 yards and a touchdown pass to wideout Terrance Williams.

Running back Rod Smith got the start again in place of Ezekiel Elliott and played well finishing the night with 13 carries for 49 yards. The Cowboys receivers and tight ends did a nice job in this game finding holes in the defensive zones to make plays.

On the defensive side of the ball, Antwuan Woods was your player of the night. The defensive tackle created consistent pressure on the quarterback and was a force in the running game. The actual play of the night belongs to cornerback Chidobe Awuzie with his one-handed interception of Bengals quarterback Jeff Driskel. Other standouts in the game were defensive end Taco Charlton and safety Jeff Heath. Both players forced fumbles with one being recovered by cornerback Byron Jones.

Sadly the biggest story from this game was the injuries for the Dallas Cowboys. Byron Jones left with a shoulder injury but later returned to the game. Unfortunately for Dallas, he wasn’t the only injury of the night.

The Cowboys also had injuries suffered by Awuzie, defensive tackle Datone Jones, running back Bo Scarbrough, safety Jameill Showers, safety Xavier Woods, and guard Zack Martin. The biggest worry of them all being Martin with a right knee injury. Hopefully, these injuries are minor and these players will be ready for the regular season.
