The Dallas Cowboys appear to be down one wide receiver after rookie Cedrick Wilson is believed to have suffered a torn labrum during training camp.

Unfortunately, injuries are a way of life in the NFL. And the teams that can overcome them are usually the ones playing in January.

And now it appears the Dallas Cowboys have had their first significant injury of training camp. It is believed rookie wide receiver Cedrick Wilson suffered a torn labrum during practice on Saturday. That news was first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Tests are still being conducted on Wilson’s shoulder to determine the extent of the damage. According to LiveStrong.com, a torn labrum can take anywhere from three to six months to heal.

Detroit Lions offensive tackle and 2016 first round pick Taylor Decker suffered a torn labrum injury last June. He was able to return to the Lions in early November, playing the entire second half of their season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told DallasCowboys.com that Wilson played with that same injured shoulder during his final season at Bosie State last year.

"“[Wilson] had that last year. Played with it, but did miss some time. It’s a concern. It’s definitely something we’ll have to take a look at it. Potentially, has an impact here at training camp.”"

Wilson was selected in the sixth-round, 208th overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft back in April by the Cowboys. During his two seasons at Boise State, he racked up an incredible 139 receptions for 2,640 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is also the son of former NFL wide receiver, Cedrick Wilson Sr., who played for both the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers between 2001-2007.

At 6-foot-3, 188 pounds, Wilson seemed to have a solid chance of making the Cowboys roster due to his natural catching ability and as a vertical threat. At the very least, the 22-year old receiver was, and still is, a practice squad candidate.

With Cedrick Wilson potentially out for the season, the Dallas Cowboys options get a bit clearer at the wide receiver position. There was a logjam of talent at wideout heading into training camp.

Players like Cole Beasley, Allen Hurns, Tavon Austin, Terrance Williams and rookie Michael Gallup are all likely locks to make the final roster. That now leaves Deonte Thompson, Noah Brown, Lance Lenoir, K.D. Cannon, Marchie Murdock, and Mekale McKay to battle it out for what might be just one remaining spot on the depth chart during training camp and through the preseason.
