The legal troubles for Dallas Cowboys players continue as one young defender was arrested last month following his part in an alleged road rage incident.

Being a member of the Dallas Cowboys and legal troubles seem to go hand-and-hand, especially during the offseason. And this year is no different.

As first reported by KDFW FOX 4 News out of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Cowboys second-year cornerback Marquez White was arrested on June 15th in Collin County, Texas following a road rage incident that allegedly happened last October in Plano, Texas. White was charged with second degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to White, and as reported by the Dothan Eagle, the spark of this alleged road rage incident was him cutting off another driver in order to make an exit off of highway 121 near the Tennyson Parkway. Marquez claims that the other driver got increasingly angry, drove in an aggressive manner and even made a threat on his life. It was at that time that White flashed his legally owned gun. The other driver backed off and proceeded to follow Marquez home and called the police.

When the policed arrived, they apparently questioned White and did not make an arrest at that time. After a failed attempt to question the Cowboys defender two weeks after the incident, a felony warrant was issued for White’s arrested last month after several attempts to contact him went unanswered. Marquez claims those notices were being sent to an old address in Florida. The 23-year old defender played his college ball at Florida State.

It is unclear what ramifications White might face from this recent arrest. A sixth-round selection by the Cowboys last year, Marquez spent his entire rookie season on the practice squad. With former Seattle Seahawks’ defensive coordinator Kris Richard now in Dallas as the team’s new defensive backs coach, it was hoped White’s 6-0, 190-pound frame might give him a leg up on making the active roster this year.

This latest development likely puts a wrinkle in those plans. If the NFL decides to levy a suspension on Marquez White for this arrest, it could certainly mean the end of his young career in Dallas as the Cowboys are believed to currently possess an overabundance of talent at the cornerback position.
