The first member and originator of the “88” club, wide receiver Drew Pearson is associated with some of the greatest moments in Dallas Cowboys’ history. Most famously as the man on the other end of the legendary Hail Mary pass that won a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings in 1975.

Undrafted out of Tulsa in 1973, Pearson spent 11 years in Dallas. His special connection with quarterback Roger Staubach helped led the Cowboys to become one of the most dominant teams in the 1970s.

Pearson finished his career recording 489 receptions for 7,822 yards and 48 touchdowns. He currently sits fourth all-time in the most catches and total receiving yardage in Cowboys’ history. Pearson was also a three-time Pro Bowler and three times named a first-team All-Pro.

A member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1970s, Pearson only eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark twice in his career. He’s also a member of the Cowboys Ring of Honor and a Super Bowl champion.

At the age of 70, Pearson’s numerous accomplishments were finally given their rightful due as he was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2021 class.
