Dallas Cowboys: Hey Seattle Seahawks, deal Earl Thomas to Big D already!
So wait, free safety Earl Thomas isn’t with the Dallas Cowboys yet? Somebody get the Seahawks and Cowboys a meeting. Deal or no deal? Let’s play ball.
Come on Seattle Seahawks, make a deal with the Dallas Cowboys already.
The chatter around a possible deal is dragging on like a boring three-hour movie.
Safety Earl Thomas is holding back. He wants a new contract. He wants what he thinks is a big payday. Sure, the 29-year-old is saying he wants to remain in Seattle, to retire there.
But there’s something brewing in Dallas and clearly, Thomas wants a piece of it.
The safety knows his services are needed. Dallas knows this and so does Seattle. It’s time for the back and forth to stop. And while I applaud the Cowboys for standing their ground over the months, waiting for the right package that’s fair for Big D, the Seahawks are losing ground day by day.
As much as Thomas wants to return to football, ideally, he’d back on the turf in silver and blue. The writing is clearly on the wall and if Dallas deals with Seattle, the final hurdle is determining his new contract, which should be in the big dollar range.
With training camp drawing near, the Dallas Cowboys are still configuring the safety spots. Chido Awuzie is sticking to the cornerback spot. Byron Jones is going back to his cornerback duties in full-time mode. Clearly, the safety positions in Dallas need a makeover.
Oh, to make things easy for Thomas’ transition to Dallas, his former coach in Kris Richard is ready to greet him with open arms.
Inside Thomas’ cell tissue is a man of Texas blood. He played his high school ball in Orange, Texas. He also attended the University of Texas in Austin, playing the safety role from 2007 to 2009. The standout would go on with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, when the team took him 14th overall.
The All-Pro has Hall of Fame credentials. The All-Pro went to six Pro Bowls, has a Super Bowl ring, and 642 tackles to his name. A figurehead in the “Legion of Boom” tagline, it’s clear Thomas is a proven player who can lift the young Dallas D to higher heights.

The narrative of Earl Thomas going to Dallas won’t stop. Frankly, the discussion shouldn’t either. It just makes sense. Some marriages are meant to be.
So, Seattle, what’s it going to take to make a deal so this soap opera can end already?
