With the final wide receiver spots up in the air, can second-year wide out Noah Brown crack the Dallas Cowboys roster again?

The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver group has many young bodies ready to compete for a select few roster spots come training camp. One of the more intriguing options is Noah Brown, the seventh round pick out of Ohio State who spent all of last season on the Cowboys roster.

After he was drafted, Brown was impressive in training camp. He appeared in two preseason games, and caught four passes for 60-yards and a touchdown. The work he put in and impressive combo of size and athleticism he showed in training camp earned him a spot on the Cowboys 2017 roster.

After starting the season as an inactive almost every game, an injury to Brice Butler gave Brown an opening. He ended up appearing in 13 games on the season, making one start, and caught four passes for 33 yards and did not find the end zone.

Although those numbers do not seem very impressive, Brown did get a good amount of playing time, which shows the coaches have confidence in him. He played 158 offensive snaps, fifth most of Cowboys wide receivers, and also played 119 special teams snaps.

The Cowboys coaching staff is one that values versatility very much, and the Ohio State product brings that with his ability to play almost all snaps on special teams. Dallas did take some deep shots down the field to Brown in the 2017 season, and does have a knack for finding the end zone that he showed as a member of the Buckeyes.

For Brown, his biggest advantage over the other Cowboys receivers trying to make the roster is his experience. He has a full year in the Cowboys system learning the playbook, and Dallas felt the need to keep him on their 53-man roster for the entire season.

After Butler went down, Dallas made it a clear point to get Brown on the field, another reason to believe the coaching staff has confidence he can produce.
